Culture Guide:

Who We Are

Welcome to the Gateway family where we’re all about people because God is all about people.

At Gateway, we seek to build and nurture a culture for our organization that produces and protects a God-honoring atmosphere, and we believe discipleship is at the core of this vision. We define discipleship with three simple words: hear, believe, and obey. To take steps of godly wisdom, we must first hear words of truth, then commit those words to belief, and, finally, walk in obedience. We lay the foundation for this cultural expression by personally living out Gateway’s values and instilling them in all who work alongside us in ministry.

As new people join our team, we welcome them and help them uphold Gateway’s vision. We expect that when someone’s values are different from our own, they will accept, adopt, and reflect our vision and values when becoming part of our team. It’s not about excluding uniqueness; it’s about not compromising our purpose. Our values must be consistent churchwide or our message becomes confused and our organizational impact declines.

Our values are steady—they don’t change very often. Adding or changing something involves a process that begins with our senior pastor and requires ratification by our elders. We recognize that we’ll have relationships with individuals, families, or organizations that are different from us. We respect their uniqueness, but those differences will not influence a change in our organization. We defend and protect our culture and expect all team members to do so in both their corporate and personal lives.

Gateway DNA

Spiritual

Being spiritual is having God-centered influence grounded in scriptural truth and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We value being teachable and humble, fostering a culture of kindness, trust, loyalty, and honor. We are also servant-hearted as we focus on building the kingdom and being full of faith to hear, believe, and obey God.

Professional

Being professional is producing high-quality work in a productive manner while operating in a culture of excellence, not perfectionism, to support Gateway’s mission. We steward Gateway’s vision and purpose while upholding high leadership standards regardless of position, leading with love, and remaining above reproach in our conduct.

Relational

Being relational is valuing relationships over results. We show integrity by being humble, honest, trustworthy, and accountable to one another and the Lord. We are unified in supporting the needs of our organization—collaborating together, being approachable in every situation, and having fun along the way! We are also compassionate—always extending mercy and grace balanced with truth.

5 Pillars of Ministry

Each pillar is essential to the health of Gateway and the advancement of the kingdom.

Preach and Teach the Word of God

We are focused on prioritizing the Word of God through a healthy balance of preaching biblically based messages and teaching foundational truths through groups and classes. It’s the cornerstone of everything we do—from financial decisions to weekend services, what we say and do must always align with the Bible.

The Presence of God in Worship

At Gateway, worship is not just the precursor to a message or event but an integral part of gathering together. Worship is a precious offering that ushers in the presence of the Holy Spirit and expresses praise, adoration, and thanksgiving to the Father.

Next Generation

We desire to reach and keep the next generation. Though we are a multigenerational church, we place special emphasis on offering relational ministries, creative gathering spaces, and dynamic events for the next generation to continually thrive in their relationship with Jesus.

Relationship/Groups

We believe in the importance of building godly, life-giving relationships and community with others in the body of Christ through small groups where people are deeply known and loved. Relationships are the conduit for introducing the love of Jesus to others, and they are the only things on earth with eternal value.

Evangelism/Outreach

Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples. We passionately pursue this commission and follow Jesus’ model of going into all the world and sharing the gospel in our communities, in prisons, and across the world. This is an opportunity for our church to serve and show others the love of Jesus and to activate disciples.
